Deputy Secretary General for Food Safety and Fisheries Policy
room 306 Toomas Kevvai works as the Deputy General for Food Safety and Fisheries Policy since 1 January 2012. He manages the work of the Food Safety and Fishery Economics departments. Toomas Kevvai was born on 6 June 1964 in Rapla. He graduated from the Estonian Academy of Agriculture, as agronomist, in 1987. He began working in agricultural production in Harju County and continued in the Estonian Research Institute of Agriculture. In 1991, he worked as a local expert in Finland for FAO and in 1992, as a local expert for the European Community in Estonia. On 14 June 1994, he started to work for the Ministry of Agriculture, as Councellor for the Rural Economy Department. On 1 December 1995, he was appointed the Head of Rural Development Department and on 29 December 1997, he was promoted to the Deputy Secretary General for Rural Development and Fisheries Policy.
