Plant Health
Monitoring of plant health, plant protection products, seeds and plant propagating material, organic plant growing and livestock farming and organic beekeeping is carried out in Estonia by the Agricultural Board. The goal of state supervision is to ensure the improvement of the quality of marketed plant production and help to preserve a clean living environment. Also, it processes and analyses necessary registers and other databases to carry out monitoring and organizes the registration of varieties, entry in the Variety List and granting of plant variety rights. The main task of the Agricultural Research Centre is to carry out field trials, make laboratory analysis (diagnosing plant pests, determining the content of plant protection products residues and pollutants in vegetable and animal products and soil, agrochemical analysis of field soil, microbiological analysis in feedingstuffs and plant material), preparing fertilizer and lime requirement charts, research on good agricultural practice and agrochemistry and assessing agro-environment measures. The Veterinary and Food Board carries out supervision on the compliance of feedingstuffs, production and marketing of organic products. last update: 01.03.2010 |
