The European Parliament is ready to support the harmonisation of direct support

The European Parliament is ready to consider the suggestion by the Baltic States regarding the harmonisation of agricultural direct support and make a corresponding proposal in their June report.

Last night, the Ministers of Agriculture of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania met with the Chairman of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee of the European Parliament Mr Paolo de Castro. Castro introduced the discussions at the European Parliament regarding the report on the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy, which is due on June 18.

According to the Minister of Agriculture Mr Helir-Valdor Seeder, de Castro confirmed that the Parliament is ready to consider the proposal by the Baltic States for a faster harmonisation of direct support with other EU Member States and make a corresponding proposal in their report.
