The Executive Director of the European Food Safety Authority discussed cooperation possibilities with Estonian colleagues

The executive director of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), Catherine Geslain-Lanéelle, is visiting Estonia today, on 8th May, to meet with Estonian colleagues, exchange information and discuss possibilities for further cooperation.


During the meetings at the Ministry of Agriculture and the Veterinary and Food Board, both parties admitted that Estonian experts and research institutions could be more actively involved in EFSA’s activities. The executive director of EFSA proposed to send Estonian experts to the European Food Safety Authority for a few years, with the perspective of gaining experiences.
EFSA executive director met with the representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Plant Production Inspectorate, Health Protection Inspectorate and scientists of the field of food safety.

Visiting Estonia was one part of the visit of EFSA executive director to the Baltic States.

EFSA is the risk assessment authority of the EU, whose task is to form scientifically proven opinions in the field of food safety.
