Growing importance of Finland in the export of Estonian agricultural products

In 2012, among Estonian agricultural products target export countries Finland  occupied the first place for the first time. During the first nine months of this year, 18,1 % of Estonian export of agricultural products went to Finland. 

 

 "Over the years, Finland has been an important target country for Estonian export of agricultural products, and trade in agricultural products between our countries shows an upward tendency,“ Minister of Agriculture Helir-Valdor Seeder said at today's seminar „Food production and trade in Estonia and Finland“ in Helsinki.  During the first nine months of 2013, mainly cheese and curds (15 mln euros), rape or turnip rape seeds (14,7 mln euros), bakery products (13,5 mln euros) and sauces and mustard (12,5 mln euro) were exported to Finland from Estonia. During the first nine months of 2013, Finland exported to Estonia mainly coffee (10,7 mln euros), undenatured ethyl alcohol (less than 80%) (9,9 mln euros), fresh or chilled fish (7,4 mln euros), cider and mead (7,3 mln euros) and malt beer (7,2 mln euros).  Within the visit, Minister of Agriculture Helir-Valdor Seeder also met Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Finland Jari Koskinen to discuss the implementation of the EU Common Agricultural Policy in Estonia and Finland.    Press release by:  Karin Volmer Ministry of AgriculturePress Representative tel 625 6254 / 5696 4876 [email protected]
