The Minister of Agriculture, Helir-Valdor Seeder met, in course of his visit to Ukraine, with the president of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko. During the meeting, both parties assured a need for cooperation between the two countries. President Yushchenko acknowledged and thanked Estonia for support and brought our country as an example to others. The Ukrainian president stressed that a policy in the directon of NATO and the European Union is their priority. Seeder assured that cooperation between Estonia and Ukraine needs to be further developed.
Today, Seeder also met with the Minister of Agricultural Policy of Ukraine Yuriy Melnik and the two minsters signed a memorandum of cooperation. In the framework of the memorandum, the goal is to promote economic and research relations in the fields of agriculture and the food industry.
Today, the Estonian delegation in participating in the opening of the biggest agricultural exhibition in Ukraine "Agro 2008" and also taking part from a seminar, round-table organized by Enterprise Estonia and the Estonian Embassy, where the main topic is Ukrainian business environment. Tomorrow, the delegation will visit several agricultural producers in Kiev region.
